Exercise makes me crave salad

image If your number one reason for exercising is to lose weight, I encourage you to change your view

Use exercise as a means to feel good, reduce stress, to be good to yourself, and as a means of self improvement, not  punishment.

Viewing exercise solely as a means to lose weight turns exercise into retribution for previous weight gain.

Worse, it will cause you to focus exclusively on only the calorie burning effect of exercise. Exercise of course, does so much more. It makes you feel better, think better, sleep better and even eat better.

It might not make you crave salad but many people eat better on days they are active. Do you? Tell us your activity and eating connection in the comments section.

Salad Daze

I totally crave salad (veggies in general) and fruit when I am active.  Personally I think it is due in part to the higher water content of those foods.  I always drink a lot more fluid when I am busy and crave foods with similar "watery" consistency!

I agree.  I'm all about

I agree.  I'm all about looking for activity I love and have actually decided to try a sport rather than just aimlessly exercising.  I am trying rowing next Monday night...wish me luck!

activity and eating connection

I definitely eat better when I am training.  There is such a thing called exaggerated hunger which I occurs when are inactive.  I also feel that when I am putting in a training session four times a week, why do I want to undo it all with eating rubbish!

Craving Salad

What's wrong with salad? The one in that picture looks pretty good to me, actually!  (Although I usually take mine with baby spinach leaves, no croutons, and tons of colorful toppings.)

As for exercise, sometimes I love it and sometimes it is a chore.  It usually depends on how tired I am.  I try to keep it fun by adding variety and setting goals (like breaking personal records in running races, for example), but I also know that I need to listen to my body and keep it light sometimes too.  I admit that my primary motivation is losing weight, but I love that it also eliminated some nagging physical and emotional problems too. :)  Exercise is a win-win deal. :)

Salad is great!

It is just funny that the more active we are the more prone to eating fruits and veggies we are.

Scientists don't seem to have a good biological explanation for this but we can certainly speculate on many psychological and motivation reasons.

Thanks for your feedback:)

Exercise

On the days when I feel sluggish but I force myself outdoors for a brisk walk I feel energized to the point that I cannot believe that I ever considered napping. Exercise is so much more a pick me up.
