Origin: Healthy Weights
- emotional state suffered by dieters
- hopelessness, despair, self-doubt
For an eye opening visual display (of the picture above) check this site. It depicts 200 calorie food items from carrots to peanuts and melons to margarine.
This will help you keep tab of your calorie bank account by choosing lower calorie foods more often.
But remember, a 1200 calorie intake 'day' is not necessarily better than 1600 calories. Especially if your body requires 2000 plus calories.
The greater the discrepancy between your calorie intake and your calorie expenditure, the faster the weight loss BUT if this discrepancy is too great it may cause distress, hunger and feelings of deprivation which heightens the risk of emotional eating, binge eating and all out relapse.
Plus, losing weight rapidly (>1-2 lbs/wk) is usually a sign of lean tissue (muscle) loss.
It is a fine line range, that needs to be adjusted daily. Find your line range and walk it the best that you can. Eating a strategic snack can be thought of as eating 200 calories now to prevent a 600 calorie binge later.

I like that, 200 calories now
I like that, 200 calories now to save a binge later. Something to hang onto over "the season".
