How Much Does U Weight Loss and Herbal Magic Cost - Same Founder?

confidential stamp The promises made by some diet pills can certainly be tempting despite the fact that the scientific community knows that diet pills are not a panacea for weight loss.

But that doesn't stop  diet pill  manufacturers and programs from sticking together. For instance, in Canada the founder of Herbal Magic according to various websites has started a program called U Weight Loss.

According to The Toronto Star, Herbal Magic is no stranger to controversy. They previously settled out of court after the near death of Jane Clements who according to the Star had been following the Herbal Magic program. DietFraud.com has also commented extensively on what it calls questionable practices by Herbal Magic.

Although I cannot make personal recommendations about Herbal Magic or the new U Weight Loss program, I always caution joining any program that would just as soon make you a franchisee as it would a customer.

Do not even go there at U-Weight Loss centre. Vouchers are just hooks to bring you in. Just lost more than $600 in week. Want to cancel the program and according to contract I have 10 days to cancel but they would not return $600 because some was for "starter Kit" and others was "prorated" discounts.

My boyfriend and I went to

My boyfriend and I went to Herbal Magic for a consultation when they had a "$99 promotion" on. The promo price includes only the consultations/coaching, not the pills. For the two of us (including an additional discount for joining together), the price came to over $10,000.00 for a year's-worth of pills. Additionally, Herbal Magic is closed evenings and weekends. Poor way to run a business like this.

Hello      Do not go to

Hello

Do not go to either one they are both a rip off and cost a few thousand dollars you need lots of money to be able to do it.

I started with a voucher that

I started with a voucher that I got for 2 weeks program at u weigh and when I went there they started taking all my information and gave me reciepies then we talked about prices. She wanted me to sign a 9 months contract saying that this is their way and there is no other way to do it.. I didn't have a void check then so she said pay a deposite (300$) and I email her the check when home. I didn't like it at all but all what I thought of is I will lose the voucher besides I will Benifit from the diet. Especially that she calculated a monthly fee of around 200$ so anyway.. She then was doing the calculation for me, each time mixing up numbers and very complicated to understand , then when it came to the starter kit she said don't worry u will pay only for the u lose pills others are free and she kept adding 100% discount on each item (other stuff are rubbish) so she gave me the kit and I left. When I returned home my husband said that this is a rip off don't sign a contract and do it monthly . At the end I only wanted to lose 15 pounds so why keep on a diet for 9 months. And at the end that's way too off our budget. So I came the other day, told her so, they didn't have any issue to do it monthly !!!!!! BUT I have to pay for the kit that I took which costs 350$ and the u weigh which is additional 60$ !!!!!! Whatttttttt and I never used them yet because they are of course no 1 do not worth a 5 dollars and they are non sense. And she said by law I can't return them back. So at the end I had 2 choices either to consider the 400$ I already paid for the kit and go home and that's it or to pay additional 260$ and have a one month consultancy but I still have to pay 60$ weekly for the pills... I hate my self and hate them of course and I will never recommend them to anyone!!! Ever.. I have been to dr Bernstein and they r way nicer and better..

I have had a very good

I have had a very good experience as well with U Weight Loss.  I only had 15 pounds to lose and lost it in 7 weeks.  I have now been on maintenance for 8 weeks and have had no trouble maintaining it.  I love the supplements.  I have loads of energy and feel healthier than I have felt in years.  I only take the one supplement (continuum, 3 times per day).  The recipes are plentiful and delicious - no boredom with what I'm eating.  I sit with the consultant and work out the menus about twice per week.  Myself and friends have used other diet programs that were more expensive and we never learned anything about healthy eating.  I am learning lots about healthy eating now and make better choices when going out to restaurants.  It is currently costing me about $80 per week for maintenance now with the cost of the supplements and consulting fee - I bought maintenance weeks when they were on sale.  Not cheap, but definitely a quality program worth the money.

I had a very good experience

I had a very good experience with U loss. I lost 20lbs, I felt good and will go back when I can afford it. Yes, U loss is exspensive (I paid about $600.00+$65.00 a week for the supplements)and it would be nice if ya didn't have to pay that much. The consultants where nice and very professional. I like the fact that I was able to pick and choose what I wanted to eat. It was very healthy and a good choices of food. I was only able to do the program for only 3 months, but it was enough to get me started on lossing more weight. I have about another 100lbs to go. After the 3 months I was on my own which was ok and I have maintained my 20lb loss.

U loss called me about a month ago to ask how I was doing. I told them I was  doing well and maintaining the 20lbs I lost. Alex was very please with that, but of course she asked if I would like to come back to the program. I said I would love to, but as for now I can not afford it. She was very understanding and hoped maybe later it would be more feasible for me to come back. Maybe next spring I saidand she said that would be great and she hope to hear from me then.

I would say from the comments I've read to may sure you know what you are getting into. Don't get me wrong I've been scramed by weight loss programs (I've been on a lot of them) but U loss worked for me and when I can afford it I will go back.

I stuppidly tried the

I stuppidly tried the U-Weightloss $99 detox and they even managed to suck me into buying their Calcium supplement and their protein powder for another $90'ish. I think it is a scam and geared to selling supplements -- not actually helping people learn healthy eating habits that are sustainable.

Even worse, i'm celiac and they gauranteed their program is compatible and it is NOT! With their reps rudimentary views on celiac disease and an over-eagerness to push the supplements, rather than helping me onto a path of better health, they promoted unhealthy choices. Although many of their products say "wheat gluten" free, but contain barley b/c gluten is a protein in wheat, rye, and barley that all have to be avoided, as these gluten-containing products create intestinal damage and uncomfortable symptoms such as diarrhea, fatigue and bloating...Basically i paid them to damage my body.

I've started the U program

I've started the U program three weeks ago and recently found out I'm pregnant.  Since you cannot take the supplements while pregnant, the program has put my program on hold until I'm ready to come back in a year or so.  May seem like a nice gesture until they told me I still have to pay for the stupid program and 20 weeks worth of supplements that they happily tagged onto my bill at the consultation.  And it's not a consultation when you go in there to inquire and they start drawing up the contract before asking you if you want to join.

So three weeks, lost only 2.9 frickin' pounds but gained alot of slack and blame for not losing weight AND an unethical bill of $2600 for a program I can't even use.  U weight losses answer: It's not our fault you got pregnant!!

I don't recommend this program.  All you're paying for is a detox (go to GNC and buy Wholly Tea), and supplements that proved nothing to me.  And the $30 a week "coaching" fee is really only getting meal plans, taking your weight and inches and ask "how's it going".  You can do that all yourself without paying the ridiculous fee.

TWO THUMBS DOWN!

So.... because you joined the

So.... because you joined the program (and needed to) and you got knocked up, you should be allowed to keep vitamins at home but not have to pay for them? Yes, you're pregnant and can't take them, but because of that you shouldn't pay? That's like buying a tv, but not being able to watch it because you don't have cable and expecting the store to allow you to keep it, but you don't have to pay them back until you can't start watching it. See how ridiculous that sounds?

It sounds like you work for

It sounds like you work for them. A morally good business should be able to be flexible when things like that happen. your comparison to a tv is ridiculous. Obviously if i bought a tv and couldn't see it anymore ,I would options to sell it using other methods.. You cant really sell a weight loss contract.  All these weight losd companies prey on the desperate. The truth of the matter is you can lose weight by eating sensible and exercise .. These clinics offer magical results which only last temporarily and make people Gointo debt they don't need.

What you just said is stupid.

What you just said is stupid.  Do u know anything about this program??

You have the option of buying your supplements upfront or weekly.  A person who is pregnant should be able to put on hold and not be obligated to purchase the supplements upfront.  That's a little abusive.

I agree, i did go on the program and lost 35 lbs, but have spent almost $6 000 on the program.  HOnestly, i think it's great while you are signed up. but once you come off the program and don't keep it up, they do not provide the tools to manage your weight afterwards.  It's really important to get some tools to manage that.  I do not believe that they are focused on the long term.

I believe the product should

I believe the product should not be handed over in BULK in the first place.  I've signed up for the 99$ detox, and was vulnerable and ended up purchasing the  15 weeks it will take me to reach my goal, plus the maintenance faze...before I knew it 15 container PLUS protein powder,1 detox and a BOOK was handed to me after the payment arrangement was signed!  I told the consultant; "I can't bring that stuff home!!!!  My understanding was; the product was given to me as I needed it?"  Her response was:  "once you sign up to the program, the product must be removed from our inventory, and we are no longer responsible for the product once it leaves the door"  I couldn't believe what I was hearing, and was skeptical since...The worse thing is we never went over the U weight loss term and or agreements....so I am going to find out today the grounds for termination!  I will pay for the darn pills that I have in my closet, but I absolutely want out of this program (for many accumulated reasons!)...

On September 11th I wrote a letter/email to U weight loss local center with my concerns and never received a response or acknolegment.

Oh gosh! I can't believe

Oh gosh! I can't believe myself sometimes. I went in on the $99 thing. I had my session which included being weighed (and I notice that there is a 3 or 4 pound discrepancy between what their scale says and what my NEW digital scale at home says...anyhow, I digress...) and measured. Now bear in mind I just want and need to lose 10 pounds, mostly fat around my belly. I am already in a healthy range. I just need motivation. So this counsellor is very nice and sets up my menus, tells me about her experience with the program, fills me with positive spirit. She is very talkative and outgoing and funny so she makes a very good salesperson. I am aware she is selling the program. Of course! she is selling the program! I'm not THAT naive. But now all of a sudden she starts mentioning prices of things and writing prices down and mentioning products and how much they cost and she's writing down all this really quickly and I'm totally confused. I tell her I'm confused. Then she explains it again but all I see is I'll be spending a whole lot of money! Mostly on product and now I see that even if I refuse some products and just take the basics, there will be a hard sell on the others. There is no doubt where there widest profit margins are and no doubt the salespeople have some sort of commission arrangement with U. Let me guess: a larger commission percentage for product? maybe another rate for program? etc etc. All this is racing through my mind as I sit there listening to the garbled sales message. I'm not saying she's being rude or all that pushy, it's just her job. But my heart sinks a little. I like the recipes and have no doubt that the products are good quality BUT...I don't earn the big bucks and I am in the process of paying down a line of credit.  I stall and tell her I will try the program and approach her about the "deal" she's offering once I find out whether it works for me.  There is a moment of silence but she ends of saying.."yes that's the way most people do it".  Now here's the funny thing. I haven't even started the program yet but I cut out the morning muffin  at 10 (after breakfast at 6), cut out the evening snack, started drinking more water and I've lost 2 pounds in 4 days.  I may not even need the program after all!  There IS a question in here: I can walk away and they can have my $99 and that's it? I hope I didn't sign some sort of binding agreement in my addled state the other day.  I know I'm not stupid and very smart about some things but have blind spots and need to be more aware of what I sign! (I can hear the sarcastic comments already.)

I joined Herbal Magic in Feb

I joined Herbal Magic in Feb 2011, at an advertised discounted cost, however, after going to my lst meeting, a lot of pressure was put on me, to sign up for a year.  The more questions I asked, the more vague the answers were.  Neverthesless I was sucked in and paid.  The next meeting I am told what I paid (over $1,000.00) did not include the weekly costs of pills which were approximately $80.00 per week.  I started adding it all up and decided to hell with it.  They also required I show up several times per week and at the time I was working about 5 blocks away and had to use a cane to walk.  I had 30 minutes for lunch, so had to get there, get weighed in, have them do the "talk" and get to work late.  Within a few days I DEMANDED a refund as each new visit brought new cost information, which I considered wholly inappropriate given most of my questions had been related to total costs and many were hidden.  Each employee blamed the other for not telling me (within 3 days I had 3 different "sales" aka "counsellors" have a go at me, which I figured was to confuse me on costs and program.  I not only got a full refund, I also was told to keep the started kit at no charge.  They did not make a cent out of me, they lost money by screwing with me.  Boo hoo.

I just enquired about U Weight Loss, as their program (not much information listed) resembles Herbal Magic.  Thanks to this site, my enquiry about that program ends here.  Thanks for the great website!

Subject: RE: Please issue me an immediate refund

Good afternoon all,

First of all, Louise, Let me introduce myself;

Eric Rochefort, Regional Director for Herbal Magic, in the greater Ottawa region.  Not only do I represent this region, but am proud to say that I work for the most successful weight loss company in Canada.   And since you’ve asked, I have an office in Montreal, and one in Hull Qc.

Secondly, I was made aware of your request for a refund this morning.  As Krista wrote in her email, and we all agree on,  there was a communication breakdown and unfortunately, you lost confidence in us, and we lost the opportunity to help a client in her weight loss journey.  We take great pride in our National client satisfactory rate of 91%, but even more pride in seeing our clients not just lose weight, but feel great in adopting a new life style for their lives going forward, and feel very confident in guaranteeing that, or your money back!

It’s really unfortunate that you feel you did not get all the accurate information needed for you to make the best decision, (and we should have made sure of that) and I hate to say it, but “it is what it is”  and now we are at this point here today, which is refunding your program.  Despite the fact that we are not obliged to refund you the products nor the food plan, we feel that we could have done a better job at giving you more information, therefore I have authorized Krista to go ahead and give you a FULL refund.

Secondly, Krista copied her boss (me) and her regional trainer (which is protocol), Ramona Grimard.  It was not hidden or blind copied, it was a straight copy to us.  We like everything to be transparent and have nothing to hide.  In fact, I feel that Krista has faced the music from the get go on your request, and immediately informed us, and began the process.

Lastly, being that we are a company with over 300+ locations across the country, with just as many if not more suppliers and monthly accounts payables, there is a process in place at our corporate head office.  First, Toronto office is to receive an approved request for a refund, which they have this morning.  Secondly, it goes through the process of printing the check, then needs a signature by our controller, then the CFO (this entire process can take up to 1 week).  Once that is all said and done, with normal Canada post delays, you can add on another couple of days, which could be 2 weeks.  We like to tell clients that it can take UP TO 2 weeks, so that there is no disappointment should it take an extra day or so after the first week.  Due to the nature of this complaint, Krista requested that we send you the check via express courier, which is what I agreed to.

Last I checked, Toronto didn’t have any igloos (mind you they have received considerable amounts of snow this year), and we would never deal with a delivery company that uses limping horses and carriages, but we will expedite your check through a reputable overnight courier company, as soon as it’s printed and signed, and hopefully can make it to you before the end of next week.

Again, on behalf of our team at Queen street and the entire Herbal Magic organization, I apologize for this misunderstanding on your program details, and on our corporate accounts payable processes that do take longer than smaller companies.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to address them to me at erochefort@herbalmagic.ca  or via phone at: 514.233.8947.

Kind regards,

Eric Rochefort

Good Morning Louise,

I would like to apologies for the miscommunication amongst us all. It was never our intention in any way to have you feel this way or be confused about our program. I do realize we cannot go back and change the situation but I do think it is important for us to apologize and move forward from here to make things better.

Herbal magic will refund you the FULL AMOUNT OF 1059.26$. I have asked to waive the starter kit of 199.00$ and free supplements that were not refundable.  You can keep it all and there is no need to return it or for me to pick up the kit. It was a  misunderstanding and you will receive all your money back. Since, you did not pay visa or mc we are unfortunately not able to process the refund immediately back onto your card. However, they have sent out your full credit check by express mail and informed me you should receive it within 2 weeks. Please do not hesitate to let us know when you receive the refund so we are aware it is all taken care of. Have a great day!!

Thanking you kindly in advance,

Krista

As I indicated during my meeting at your franchine today, where it was revealed to me for the first time that I am expected to purchase $80.00 (ish) of weekly supplements on top of the $1K+ that I already paid this week which I was told repeatedly by both you and Rob was the ENTIRE COST of the entire program for 2 years,  I want an immediate and full refund.  You guaranteed I would get it upon request, if I asked for one, for any reason. You did not tell me I would have to wait for weeks, for a paper cheque, and since I paid through debit, I am willing to make one last trip to your office, so you can credit my debit card - something all ethical and honest organizations do, upon request from customers.

I had specifically told Rob, on my first consultation, that  I did not want to be on a weight loss system where I have to weigh, measure, calculate my food intake and this is why I had quit going to Weight Watchers.   He assured me I would not have to do that.   My next consultation was with you, and you assured me that I had to do all of the things Rob told me I would not have to do, and that I had told him, I was not interested in doing and was the reason I left Weight Watchers.

How can 2 people who work at Herbal Magic at the same location, neglect to also mention that I am expected to spend another $80.00+ per week, for months to come, when I had already had a few consultations and we exchanged many emails?

You explained to me, when I did not want to pay $1K+ on the spot, that I could pay just $200.00 upfront and the rest we would come to some agreement about me paying later.  You asked Rob why he did not mention it to me, and he said he knew nothing about this issue, so you explained to me that it was simply an installation arrangement that required a year commitment, but I pay only $200.00 upfront.  It was passed under something else - and included me having to sign a document that said NO REFUNDS, right after you told me there would be a full refund, if I requested one.  I believed it was just an accounting ruse, to have me sign this paper, so I went along, not really knowing how it might actually be used since I have nothing you told me, in writing. Though I signed that  paper I did not end up wanting the $200.00+ installment plan and paid the next day, $500.00 via debit and the following day, just over $559.00.  You told me you would figure out the paperwork, given I had signed that document regarding an amount of $200.00 and you assured me that it was now void and that you would figure out how to make things add up so that I am not charged more than what Rob quoted me, a little over $1,000.00 for 2 years, all included.

Now the young lady I saw today, told me you actually gave me a $300.00 discount, and said the program was $300.00 more than what I paid.  At no time did Rob even suggest that I was getting some discount.  He simply told me the fee was the entire cost of the program, for 2 years. Confusion seems to reign in your office, about what the costs are, or what to tell clients, and how to keep the stories straight between the three of you on Queen Street.  Nobody ever tells me the same thing twice! Though the young lady I saw today said I had to talk to you about a refund, even though I had written on the contract I wanted one, dated it, signed it and kept a copy and in additional had verbally told her I wanted a full refund, and though you were there and my appointment was with you today I was told you were unavailable.  I said I could wait, and the young lady said that was fine.  Minutes later she asked me to come back tomorrow, and since I was prepared to wait, I said I would not inconvenience myself by coming back, since I was already on location.  Given she kept asking me to come back, I decided I had enough of the contradictions (stay, leave, come back), I told her I was very upset, did not want to come back so that you would have an opportunity to give me some other story and try to talk me out of a refund, so I just told her to tell you about my displeasure, my wish for a refund, and left empty handed. What a way to run a business!  I'll be sure to tell all those who ask me what I think of Herbal Magic.  In fact I am so angry at your organization, I have friends in the media I might just contact.

The young lady I saw today also had the nerve to tell me that the little document you made me sign, to benefit from the so called payment arrangement of $200.00 upfront, will be deducted from my refund, as they were my cost to purchase items I did not about, i.e., the supplements, the food plan, the weekly diary, and probably some or all of the items in my welcome bag.  She could not explain why all costs had not been discussed with me, and neither did she offer to discuss them, until I saw what was in the contract - then, she told me that of course, the supplements at an estimated cost of $80.00 per week (and some weeks more), were not included.

So now you know why I want a refund.  I also request it be given to me in the way I paid -  via a credit to my bank account  Please contact me only for that purpose - to set up a time I can come back in and you can process the credit on my bank card. I don't want to hear from you for any other reason.  If you want the items back that I never agreed to purchase, , please inform me via email of the day you can come pick them up at my home, where I am available between 6-8 pm only.

I am sending a copy of this, for starters, to the above email address which I am hoping reaches your legal counsel, at Head Office.

This is the biggest joke I

This is the biggest joke I have ever seen in my whole life. I went to my free consultation at their U clinic in Surrey BC and it was the most annoying experience I have ever had. It started out really well, I heard on the radio that I could lose up to 20 pounds (I had about 60 pounds total to lose) in my first month, so I called the clinic and the girl who answered was so sweet and assured me that I would learn a lot even if I didn't go with the program and there was no pressure to sign up on the spot. LET ME TELL YOU!!!

I got to the center, I had to hurry because I had the last appointment of the day. When I got there, there were some girls all hanging around the front desk smiling, very friendly. I filled out a consent form in a little room and waited for my free consultation. After waiting for about 45 minutes, someone finally came in with another form to fill out. The entire time, there was a dog barking inside, and people were laughing and playing with this puppy, which I later found out belongs to the owner. This took another 10 minutes, so I have now been here for an hour and I haven't even spoken to anyone yet. This time a different girl came in, her name was Jamie and she said she was the owner of U Weightloss. She was very laid back and positive, but she would not SHUT UP. She talked about herself for more than half of the meeting and said that she just had ecoli or food poisoning and had been vomiting and diarrhea (too much information!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) I told her I just wanted to try the program for 99 dollars like I heard on the radio but she pushed and pushed and tried to make all sorts of promises if I signed up for an entire program on the spot. She broke all of the cost down to me which was over 2000 dollars and that didn't even include all of the vitamins. One vitamin is mandatory for the program and it's 50.00 a week! On top of my 'personalized' program. I told her I just wanted to try it for the 4 weeks and she kept going on and on. She was looking at me like I was a dollar sign.

The whole building smelled like dog shit and the dog didn't stop barking for the 2 and a half hours that I had to sit there. The owner had the door open and was trying to silence the dog, I was trying not to laugh but I was texting my friend the whole story because it was so ridiculous.

All in all, it was awful, I did learn a lot from the free consultation and that is that place is a joke and the manager is a whacko.

Like everything in life you

Like everything in life you get out of it what you put in to it.  I have only tried one other weight loss program besides Herbal Magic.  TOPS - depending on your chapter it may be very successful but the one I attended folded and you were successful if you worked hard.

I started Herbal Magic in february - i was 100 pounds overweight, felt terrible , had no energy, diabetes runs in my family and my legs and feet hurt immensley. I needed to do something . Our local weight watchers group is ran by members who may or may not have to lose 20 lbs. This is very intimidating for someone who has to lose more.

I will agree it is expensive . I travel 120km one way to visit my centre because I am committed to making it work. No diet program will work if you cheat. In my case it works, I have not felt this good in 20 years . From day one I had no cravings and yes it is an adjustment food wise but that is why i was carrying the extra weight in the first place.  I now read food labels checking the sodium and sugar - not good for us no matter what weight loss program your on. My whole family eats better because we cook more, eating out is hard to control what you eat. I still eat most of the foods i have always eaten just smaller portions. Maybe the supplements are hokum, then I guess i believe in hokum.

My legs and feet dont ache - you talk expensive try buying shoes and orthotics that make your feet feel better.  Or complain about taking pills -heart disease is rising in canada because of our high sodium and fat diets. cholesterol and heart pills arent cheap either.

I have lost 70 pounds dropped from a 22 to a 12 . Can exercise again.

Maybe I would have lost anyways but the centre I go to have been wonderful and I only buy what I want to buy.

I would like to share my

I would like to share my experience with U Weightloss.  I found their advertising to be misleading so buyers beware so I called customer service and  they were RUDE to me.  I spoke with Robert in customer service, WOW he was so rude to me that he made me cry, how is that for customer service. He hung up on me and tried to say I was cutting down u weightloss, he was actually having a conversation with himself because he would not let me get a word in edge wise. If this is the was they treat their customers then I would say go some where else, there are alot of other weight loss centers that do not treat you this way and would appreciate your business. Robert treated me like I was nothing more than dirt on the street. With a phone call like that if I was depressed I would have probably hurt myself because Robert made me feel so worthless. I do not treat people this way, even people I don't like I don't treat this way. I certainly not going to let U Weight Loss staff treat me this way. Robert also tries to put words into your mouth, I had to call him a liar at one point. My advise, don't sign on with U Weight Loss, no one deserves to be treated this way.  If they are not hearing positive feedback, look out becasue you will be treated very poorly.

U weight loss worked for me.

U weight loss worked for me. I have to say I never had a problem with the coaches there, they were all very friendly and very helpful.  First of all let me tell you I didn't have to pay for this program for the most part, I won a chance for 10 weeks last year to be in a contest.  I took advantage of that.  I went the first day and received all the information.  I got measured and weighed and my menus.  I asked several questions and took down some notes as to what they told me so I wouldn't forget.  The detox week was so great.  I lost 14 pounds following exactly what they told me to do.  Anything that was on my menus that I didn't care for they found me a substitute for it.  They did tell me the first week I may end up with headaches but that didn't happen.  The reason for this is because of the lack of caffine from maybe coffee or soda but I didn't normally drink either so it was easier for me.  Every time I went they asked me if I wanted more receipes and I usually asked for more just so I could have a nice variety.  I felt like I was eating way more than I normally did but it was because of the foods I was eating.  For the 10 weeks I was on this program I wasn't hassled at all, in fact I kept asking to try the suppliments and they told me I really didn't need them, I was doing great without them.  I did purchase some on my own and found they helped to boost my energy and weight loss.  In the 10 weeks I was on this I lost 39 pounds and 46 inches.  I didn't end up signing up for the program after the contest was over becasue I live in the US and I couldn't sign a contract in Canada for a program that they could take the money out of my account by law.  I continued to use the recipes for about 8 weeks longer and lost a total of 68 pounds.  I have kept most of it off and credit it to U weightloss because of the coaches that taught me the difference in how to eat the correct foods for me.

u weight loss doest not care

u weight loss doest not care about thier clients all they care about is your money. when you first sign up everyone will be supper nice to smiles everytime you walk in, as soon as you stop buying products the smiles will also STOP. All their staff have goals that they must reach each day, the truth of the matter is the will sell you anything as long as it gets them closer to their $ goals. I know this because i use to work there.

I read through some of these

I read through some of these posts and I have to agree with both some positive and some negative things about U weight loss.  I joined last year in September, at 280lbs, so I had a lot to lose.  With a 1 year program it was a lot of money, but as someone else said, knowing how much money I paid for this really motivated me to stay on track and follow the program.  I'll give you the two best and the two worst things about the program for me, my opinion only:

Good thing #1:  It works.  I have lost 60 lbs (and I definitely haven't been on-track 100% of the time, more like 75-80% of the time) and I now understand what works for me and what I have to do in order to lose weight.  When you follow the program, it does work.

Good thing #2:  Going in 3x/week can sometimes feel like going to confession, but it keeps you on track, it keeps you motivated, and when you are having a problem, or have questions about nutrition, etc., the coaches, generally, can help you and explain things to you.

Bad thing #1:  It is expensive... but so is personal training or seeing a nutritionist on a regular basis (I know you can see one for free at a doctor's office, but definitely not 3x/week, and not in after-work hours!)

Bad thing #2:  The exercise program is kind of a joke.  The yoga video is fairly good to get started with, but then you really need to amp it up.  Their solution for me was to go walking, or they gave me a 20 min "exercise program" that consisted of doing some squats, lunges, and some upper body stuff... really not enough exercise at all.  I decided to ignore the "exercise" portion of this program and I joined Goodlife.  I am not one to push myself, especially in cardio, so I do the classes and I love them because you're sort of forced to keep up.  So, yeah exercise part of U Weight loss sucks.

Bad thing #3: (I had one more...) Some of the coaches are so unknowledgable... There was one specifically at the clinic I go to who I just hated being coached by, it felt like more like being interogated than coached.  I remember I told her that I was having a lot of cravings (becasue of that time of the month) and I wanted some advice on what I could do.  She told me I should eat a salad cause the crunch of the lettuce would make me feel full... I pretty much laughed and said I'll ask a different coach for some advice next time.  I haven't seen her in a few weeks, hopefully she quit or was fired.... :)   But there are 3 EXCELLENT coaches at my clinic and they're very knowledgable and helpful.

One piece of advice I have is to not give in and buy the extras the minute they try to sell them to you.  start with the basic U Loss and omega 3.  That's all you really need.  I'm just starting out my career, so I let them know that I couldn't afford anything extra than what I already had paid for, and of course they still tried to sell it to me.  Once certain coaches understood, they stopped trying to sell to me, but the owner of the branch was very persistant. But because I had said I coudln't afford it so many times the discounts that I got when I finally decided to upgrade to use some of the other products was great.  I think almost 50% off of what I would have paid if I had said yes to it the first time they tried to sell them to me. So, even if you can afford it, don't buy it for full price.  They can offer you crazy discounts if you refuse enough.

If you just want to follow the recipes, but not pay for the vitamins (I gave my sister the recipes, and she lost 30lbs just by following them)  it's a very simple breakdown of nutrients... 40% Carbs, 30% Protein and 30% fats.  Breakfast is generally 300 cal, Lunch and dinner are 400 calories, and you would have 1 or 2 snacks at 200 calories each (total of 1300-1500 calories/day)  You can find programs online that if you put in the grams of carbs, proteins and fats it will give you the percentage of each.  A lot of people who go on diets avoid fat like the plague, but this program taught me that your body needs the good fats, and it's okay to eat good fats in the proper amounts.  I also found that just following this balanced approach to meals that I didn't have any cravings after the first few weeks (and those weeks were super hard to get through!)

So, overall I'd say I'm a somewhat satisfied customer.  Some things could definitely be better (price, exercice, some coaches), but I can't ignore the success I've had.  It's easy to start a diet and stick with it for a while, but on this program when you start to fall off, you still have to go 3 times a week and face them and the scale, when you're on your own, you can pretend you don't have a scale lol, and there's nobody to be accountable to.  I would reccommend the program to friends and family, but with some warnings.

I bought the 99$ WagJag deal

I bought the 99$ WagJag deal - 4 months of the counseling , two weeks of the u loss pills and their kick start (more pills). The girl who worked with me (who wa even larger than me) was super nice at first but less friendly when she realized I wasn't going to cough up money to buy all their pills. As far as I can tell, I have no obligation o continue fate the 4 weeks, or even then. I read the contract very thoroughly! No way am I spending 400 bucks for their start up package!

This seems just like the

This seems just like the Direct Buy club in that they will not tell you a thing about cost or anything until you have been subjected to the full sales pitch. If they had told me at the beginning that the mandatory supplements alone would cost $60+tax PER WEEK!, I would have walk away right then and there! MAybe it works, but I suspect a lot of the weight loss stems from the lightening of your wallet. No thank you.

I find it funny that the

I find it funny that the initial response to any positive comment is that it must be fake.  Sure, all the negative comments couldn't possibly be planted but all the positive ones are not true.  I, for now, have a neutral comment.  I started the program three weeks ago and it was more expensive than I originally thought it would be.  No itchiness...not sure why people are getting that. I've struggled with weightloss for a long time and really what I needed was the kick in the butt.  Meeting with someone three times a week keeps me on the program because I need someone keeping me accountable.  It may be too much for some people but different people need different things.  I need someone to run with or I'm not motivated to push myself where as some people are motivated to push themselves on their own.

As for the calorie intake, if I were intending to eat healthy on my own, I'm more likely to put myself on a stricter diet than what U weightloss has me on.  The problem with cutting out every possible unhealthy food (like I would do to myself) is that once you lose the weight and begin to eat normally, you'll gain it all back.  It wouldn't be permanent weightloss.  Also with such a diet, you feel so restricted and are more likely to cheat or give up.  I'm happy with the recipes I've recieved from U weightloss because they include cheese and for me that feels like cheating, because on my own I would avoid it like the plague.  If I'm eating cheese now and losing weight then once I've hit my goal and begin eating more calories, I'm not shell shocking my body with cheese.

I know some people have said you can't put a price on your health, and it sounds cheesy.  I understand that it's expensive and I have debated quiting and just trying to do it on my own, but I have tried to do it on my own before and failed.  If it works, then I see that as something I'm done with.  I'd have lost the weight and can move on with a happier me.  Higher self esteem and more confidence.  That's what weight loss for me is mostly about.  I'm not happy with my body right now and I want to be.  Once I lose the weight I can move on.  To me that is worth the money (right now anyways...).  Because I'm only losing 35 lbs, my program sounds cheaper than figures other people have listed here.  From what I understand, you're paying more depending on how much weight you want to lose, which makes sense, does it not?

I understand that it IS a business, and there are some coaches I like better than others.  Sometimes the whole coaching is just a riot and sometimes I'm thinking, 'Well you're just a stuck up snob', but you're going to hit personalities like that EVERYWHERE!  Even for me it depends what kind of day you catch me on.  At one Tim Hortons you could find excellent service and great food while at another they never have what you want, the quality isn't as good and the servers just don't care.  It is a franchise, it can be hit and miss but for now I would like to say that I am happy with the program.  Maybe that will change in the future.  I dunno, maybe it's like premium gas.  Some people swear by it, won't put anything else in their vehicles.  Some people don't care for it, don't have the money or don't believe it's any different, and there are the cars that shouldn't be running on anything less.  It's what they need.

I've found all of these reviews helpful (though I'm trying to figure out where an hour of my life went...), and as a current client I'll say the program isn't the cheapest, but it depends on the person.  Do you need a kick in the butt?  Do you need motivation and a set list of the food you can eat or can you do it on your own?  If you have the motivation and self control to do it on your own then go for it! If you can't afford it then don't.  It's up to you.  Personal prefference.  It is a business, it does cost money.  It's your money and your choice.

`I just read most of the

`I just read most of the reviews and it is pretty silly. So many negative reviews. I really think some of the negative reviews are made up. People spending 2700 and 1500 dollars on pills and supplements? Why would you be so stupid to pay that much? Why not start off at the least expensive level and see how it goes? If it is working for you then you can increase if you think it is worth it. This is the problem with society and that is no one will take responsibility. Also how much money do most of the overweight people spend a year on junk food? Probably over $1000. Do you people cry and blame Mcdonald's? Grow up and take responsibility.

First and foremost id like to

First and foremost id like to say that ive been to a consultation with herbal magic. they wanted to start me on a program for $400/mo.. and keep me on for a year ($4800).. however id also like to say that people who try this are not stupid. I think maybe discouraged and desperate are better discriptions. Those who are tired of ignorant people such as yourself who assume the only reason people are overweight is because of over eating - "mcdonalds and junk food" - i understand that some people do use this as an excuse but, for those of us who have thyroid problems, eating disorders, etc. i suggest u that u keep your insensitive trap shut. Also lets talk about those people who spend thousands of dollars on gym memberships when they can go outside their front door and get the same kind of workout. Don't get me wrong im not judging everything, what im saying is that people are entitled to spend their money any which way they want, without judgement.
